Since the new school year has officially begun, we polled some of our favorite stylists to shed some light on a few back to school cut and color trends sweeping the nation.
According to Angel Torres, stylist at Robert Allen Salon, Miami’s curly haired teens and tweens are requesting Taylor Swift’s color.
To achieve the country singer’s hue, Angel suggests coloring the hair in three tones: light and medium blonde lowlights and very light highlights.
Allow the colors to blend together to create those Grammy-worthy locks.
In Arizona, Tawni Bare from Altered Ego Salon says she’s seeing “more daring styles,” like the pixie with a wispy perimeter. Think low maintenance cuts with attitude.
And in Chicago, long is still in according to Veronica Rubio, stylist and owner of Salon V. She says Windy City girls want it all: length, volume and movement, like styles worn by Lauren Conrad and the Kardashian sisters.
To give her clients the best of all three, she cuts shorter, nearly invisible layers in-between the longer layers. “We don’t necessarily take the layers too, too short, but hide the pieces…and then give them some pretty layers around their face.”
